The Singh Twins In Conversation

  • Norwich University of the Arts, Duke Street Riverside Production Theatre 26 Duke Street Norwich NR3 3FF (map)

The Singh Twins In Conversation with Dr Rosy Gray, Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery

In conjunction with The Singh Twins’ exhibition Slaves of Fashion currently on display at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery and East Gallery, Norwich University of the Arts.

Norwich University of the Arts is pleased to host an In Conversation event with the internationally renowned artists, The Singh Twins.

The Singh Twins’ British-Asian heritage has played a significant role in influencing their work, and they are widely known for pioneering a modern development of the Indian miniature tradition within contemporary art practice, which they refer to as ‘past-modern’. Inspired by Eastern and Western art forms, the Twins’ work addresses a range of modern, social and political themes through exquisitely detailed hand-painted and digital techniques. At the heart of The Singh Twins’ work lies the desire to challenge narrow perceptions of heritage, culture and identity and show a more balanced representation and understanding of the past can influence how we relate to the present.

This event is held in association with the East Anglia Art Fund (EAAF), as supporters of the Slaves of Fashion exhibition, and the Norfolk Contemporary Art Society (NCAS) as co-supporters of a new artwork created by The Singh Twins for Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery.

This event is free of charge to all attendees but tickets must be purchased in advance via the NUA Eventbrite booking system. To go there, use this link.
